I'm currently building a Woods style coop for my chicks. Right now I have a solid door planned. Should I include a screen door for the summer, too? I am using his 6x10 design with one window in the scratch shed and one across from the door.

Probably not needed unless you want to complicate it. As long as the top monitor windows open out, there is not much more that is needed. Having the two side windows open up also changes everything. Open those and the cross breezes start flowing.

Hit 98 today and the solid wood door was left closed and it was fine in there.

Nice work. Good choice in coop design.
I would agree with the top windows open the heat rises right out. I've had a couple of days near 100 already and it's no hotter inside than outside. Way cooler than my shed style coop.
Wouldn't hurt though if you wanted to take the time. There is also the option of putting a window that opens in the door.

BTW, I don' t have a run or anything......the pop door opens into a yard where the birds run around. So I can and do open the side door and fix it open as Jack E does, except I have no screen door behind it. It is just wide open. Suns shines in......wind blows through......birds run through......I walk through.
