4 chickens, all from Tractor Supply. 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes, and 2 Austalorps. Pet birds, not show birds clearly!
Red has a single comb, not the rose comb that SLW's are supposed to have.
Janet looks like she is going to be a bit spotty on the lacing.
Big Girl and Dunny (the Australorps) aren't terribly bright and are very food motivated.
Janet and my husband have clearly bonded, when they were in the brooder in the house she would always jump up and race up his arm as soon as we took the screen off the top. I'm very glad that her feathers are coming in rounded and hen-shaped because he would be upset if she was a cockrel. Red on the other hand...jury is still out on gender. First day out in the run and somehow Janet cut her foot a tiny bit, so she ended up getting a warm foot bath and was unhappy that I made her stay still while we cleaned up the blood.
Big Girl had some pasty butt issues early on, but we got that cleared up, took them off the electrolyte water, and added cornmeal and grit and we haven't had any issues with any of them since. Big Girl and Dunny are always the first out of the coop in the morning.
They've been in the coop a week now, and at night we have a heater on for them. Once it gets above 40 at night then the heater will go away, and I am sure they will blame me for it. Janet has a good RBF game.
1) first day home
2) Janet at 2 weeks
3) Janet at 3 weeks
4) Red at 3 weeks
5) first day being evicted from the brooder and living room
6) the flock earlier today, minus Big Girl who was more interested in dirt clumps than school photos
