WOOOO HOOOO I finally have

a baby Phoenix from my birds!!! After 2 years of trying to get Phoenix that would live and reproduce for me I have been watching the 2 hens I got last fall actually sitting eggs. This morning I caught sight of a chick! Hope there are more coming. They had a dozen eggs between the two of them. They are in the a small pen that was set up for Phoenix only. There is another hen that is not sitting and the rooster in that same pen. Will the chicks be safe in there or should I move the Rooster and the other hen into a different pen?

Congratulations! I'm so glad it's working out for you. I always separate the mothers with chicks from the rest of the birds for 2 weeks or so until the chicks are big enough to get out of the way of the adults.

Phoenix in Arizona........how appropriate!
