I’ve been having a chicken that’s laying lots of yolkless eggs lately. I have 17 layers, and am not sure who it is. Today I broke a few into a bowl to inspect them, and I found something that looks a LOT like a small worm 😬

I could be wrong, but I’d love some feedback. Also would love to know if anyone else has seen a worm like this before and if so, which type is it?

Again, I don’t know which chicken is laying it… but apart from one chicken with sour crop, all of my flock seems pretty healthy and are behaving normally. Even the chicken with sour crop isn’t acting sick.

Looks like piece of Chalaza to me, not a worm.
Is the white in a hard shelled egg or is it soft shell? Normal size or fairy type egg?

How old are your birds?

They have been very think shelled, almost as thick as a quail egg. This is coming from a pullet that is a little over 7 months old. I’ll attach photos of the eggs whole. As well as next to a normal egg from another in our flock

Okay. That’s what I’m hoping too. Winter cold is setting in here, and one of our chickens got killed by a hawk about two weeks ago. Maybe this chicken is just feeling the stress 🤞🏼 Thank you for your opinion on the “worm”. I have been nervous all evening about worms spreading through my flock
