Ok, I have another post running my hen hatched eggs for the first time, Ive raised chicks before but Ive hatched them myself....this is the first time a hens done it, I noticed when I picked up a EE that was all yellow that there was a what appeared to be a "red" worm moving in it, tiny tiny...and then it disappeared in the head area....how can I treat this and what is it?

Ive never had worms on any hens, roosters, or chicks....

and when can I treat them...Im sure it would have to be the whole flock????

Im assuming its a worm...not sure....looked like a tiny short piece of sewing thread...real short

No, as I stated was on the head...my daug. Had it and was holding it, petting its head when she noticed it. I went over and saw it moving, you could barely see it when I went to move the feather down back it moved deeper into the head and we lost it.

That doesn't sound good at all. I bought dewormer for my chicks for later. You aren't supposed to worm them until they are 4-6 weeks old. But it's the same kind of worms kittens and puppies are born with. Just in the chicks instead. So these would be in the belly. You say this one is reddish colored and in/on the head of a day old chick? I would take it to an exotic pet vet asap to get help getting rid of it. Good luck!
