Ok, I have 24 chickens all in one pen, they have plenty of room and I rake it out often as we like to go in and visit, these chickens are hatchery chicks, 18 weeks old and appear very healthy and happy, my question is should I worry about worms? Oh we live near Seattle WA, if that makes a difference. I really don't want to have to worm them when they start laying (better be soon!) also what are the symtoms of worms or are there many? Sorry this is so long and thanks in advance.

Most folks I know do not preemptively deworm their chickens.

The easiest way to know if they have worms is to oberve their droppings - you will see the worms. You will also see them looking lethargic, with pale combs and loss of weight if they are infested.

In other words, your chicks sound just fine and I would not change a thing from what you are doing.
