Worm?

Thanks. Now another question. From what I've been told, and read, my poults either had, (have) coccidiosis or stress from being shipped in the heat. Symptoms arranged from green watery droppings, pure liquid with/without foam, but no blood. I contacted a man who hatches eggs by the thousands who said stress. A local hatchery said to try buttermilk and cornbread. Shortly after a dose of that, came watery droppings with what looked like 2-3"worms. There was no substance to these, like you would expect worms would have. Is this the intestines from cocci and if so should I put them down? They've appeared reasonably healthy. I've got them on corid, some have improved, but not all.

You probably saw shed intestinal lining which is normal on occasion, it can be confused as to look like worms sometimes. Continue with the corid for 5-7 days, no longer than that. Hopefully all of them are drinking it. Buttermilk is an excellent probiotic, much better than yogurt. It coats the intestinal lining helping ward off cocci infection. It is also easily absorbed whereas yogurt tends to pass through the digestive tract and excreted. You can add chopped boiled eggs to the buttermilk for extra protein if you wish. Give it time and let the corid do its job. Heat can certainly be a factor as well.

Added eggs to their diet doing the corid already. It's really hot but I put them outside in a run I put together (covered). We have the usual critters that like chicken nuggets too. It's under a tree so much cooler. I have 30 Atwood mutts in the brooder in the shop which are healthy with a squirrel fan on them. We'll see what happens, I'm too busy to babysit them, but I want them all healthy.
