Worming- Need some instructions please!

I am wondering when you should start worming your flock. Do you worm healthy chickens, or only if you see worms? I use DE in their coop, so I'm specifically curious about the wormers like Wazine or Ivermectin. I have not seen ivermectin for chickens, only other livestock. Also, does a chemical wormer harm your eggs? Thanks a lot!

I just dewormed mine for the first time, after doing a lot of reading about it. Some people deworm their chickens 3 or 4 times a year, some never, some only once. Depends on chances for infection in their area. You can not eat the eggs for i think 2 weeks after worming. I used Valbazen, I don't know about the other dewormer. Oh and mine were 4 months when i dewormed, I am sure you could do it sooner if needed.

Valbazen and SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer are both very good dewormers for chickens. It can vary how often worming is needed depending on your climate, and what worms you are dealing with. A fecal float done on several fresh droppings by your vet may tell you what you need to treat. Here are some good threads about worming:
