Hi, I am expecting 15 chicks from Cackle on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. The temps here are supposed to be 95 with heat index of 110, they will be coming from Missouri, not sure what the temps are going to be around there. But, I am worried when it takes 2 days to get here where do the chicks stay on the two overnights? They don't leave them in the truck do they? Warm is good for babies but I do believe that would be overdoing it! Help please!!

I just recieved chicks from Ideal and we are in Louisiana...VERY HOT here...I only had one die a couple hrs after we brought them home...

Postal trucks are not left loaded over night. Federal law requires live animal shipments to be off-loaded if delivery is not made that day. They'll be in a PO somewhere.

Call the hatchery for information on their shipping policy. Their web site should have information on replacement policy if you recieve dead chicks due to temps.

Well, there really isn't anything you can do about it, so you just shouldn't worry.

Unless you are picking them up yourself, tis in the hands of God and the USPS.
