I woke up this morning and found my incubator off :( I have some Golden Cuckoo Marans eggs in it on day 17. Also some bantam eggs at day 2. It is a homemade incubator using the incukit from incubator warehouse. It had worked awesome for four months and have hatched out hundreds of chicks with no problems. This morning when I noticed it was off I checked the surge protector and it was on. So I checked where the power supply connects to the incukit and there was the problem. I had to wiggle it so the unit would turn on. So do you all think they will still hatch. The incubator was off for about eight hours and the eggs were cool to the touch. It is now back on and warmed up.

Not sure... Do you know how low the humidity got? It's important to have high humidity during the last few days of incubation. Your bantams will be fine, but I don't know about your Cuckoo Marans. If the humidity was very low for 8 hours, I'm not sure if the Cuckoo Marans will hatch. I don't know much about chickens. When I had duck eggs, the incubator had turned off for about 4 or 5 hours and the ducks didn't hatch, but I don't know if that was the reason why. The box was dropped, there were a few other problems... Anyway, it depends on how low the temperature and humidity got during the time the incubator was off. You should have a thermometer and a hygrometer, a way to measure the humidity, in your incubator. The humidity from day 1 to day 18 should be 45-50%, and for the last 3 days it should be at 65%. The temperature should be at 99.5 degrees in still air incubators and 101-102 degrees in forced air incubators. If the temperature and humidity didn't get much below these levels, then the eggs are probable fine, but if you said the eggs were cold.... I don't know. Anyway, I hope this helped. Hopefully your chickens hatch! Good luck!

Ok guys so good news! 10 out of the 15 golden cuckoo marans eggs have hatched and two more on the way. A real miracle. Thank you everybody for the well wishes and prayers.
