Worrried chicken momma with a scalped baby

I am so glad to see this thread. I also have a scalped chick. I had all 3 of our pure bred show chicks about 6 weeks old introduced behind a fence for about 4 days. I introduced them and all was fine for a couple of weeks. Now all we have is one left (one I think got trampled because she was just sure she was as big as the adults), and two were scalped. One did not make it as of yesterday and the other has been isolated here at the house since finding her on saturday. She is doing so much better. She was out in the lawn with us today, stretching her wings and doing a bit of grooming. Still taking lots of naps. She has one good eye left and the other is still not opening all the way. I am so glad to hear that they can still live after such a terrible injury. Thank you so much for the encouragement!!

Im glad that this is some help and encouragement. My chick is still alive, however, it aas kidnapped by my neighbor's dog yesterday, and went for a little slobbery ride in the dog's mouth. The chicken was shaken, but apperently unharmed. Today, I came home to find that the crusted part of the chick's head where its base of the skull and neck meet is opened up. With closer inspection, there are small worm/maggot appearing parasites all over the fleshy part of the wound. Poor little chicken! What else can happen to this poor chick? I have applied betadine, neosporin, and now peroxide. I thought the wound was healed, but under the surface, its a parasitic infestation. Besides peroxide, does anyone have any suggestions?
