Current ordinance states that livestock is- "any animal except dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets, fish and birds"
It goes on to state that "Livestock prohibited. No person shall raise, keep or feed any livestock within the city limits."
I believe that this would mean that chickens are allowed in town.
My neighbor is checking with someone on the board to make sure but I think it is a formality. The guy is really interested in the school program that puts a garden and chicken coop on school grounds for the education of children on where food comes from (school is very close to our house) If he is interested in that I have to think that we will be fine to have our own coop!
I was recently told that a former mayor or something in town had a yard full of cages of exotic and rare birds. I guess that when they did all the ordinances they specificly made it so he could keep them.
