Would beef grease mixed with layer feed be ok for my chicks?

It has been really cold the last 2 days and we're going to have more cold (0 degrees at night). Tonight my DH made sloppy joes and poured the grease into a can in the fridge. I just thought maybe this fat would be good for my chicks? Might keep them a little warmer?
Any thoughts on this?

Not too salty- should be fine for adult birds. Another way to offer it is to spread pellets or seed in a small container, pour hot fat over it and refrigerate then hang in a suet container in the coop...the birds that want it will happily go for it...

a lot of us save fat and use suet and various good feeds in blocks for our birds. They can have wild bird suet too.

We have a huge snow storm approaching and the suet block was one of the things I wanted in the coop in case of a delay getting to the hens in the morning- that, a full hopper feeder and lots of clean water. Oh and a squash, to give them something to do until Iget to them...

Thanks for the advice. Otherwise we would just throw out the beef grease.....might as well give it to the chickies, if it's not bad for them! Hopefully it won't give them high cholesterol!
