Would Silver Penciled Wyandottes carry the "silver" gene?

I really want to get some, but I was hoping I could use them with my Buff Orp roo to make a sexlink...
I know Silver Laced works, but I wanted something more exciting

Yes it should work, they would just have a different pattern but the same thing applies for sexlinks, the males would be silver based and the females more gold. You could also get a partridge rooster and silver pencilled hens and produce partridge females and bad silver pencilled males.

oh and with a straight comb x rose comb what do you get?

Single comb x Rosecomb with give you Rosecombed offspring, but they will be heterzygous for it. They will also carry the Single comb.

Example:
S = rose comb s = single comb

SS x ss = Ss

dark brahmas are silver penciled as well.....they have the same color genes as silver penciled wyandottes.
