Would this be a good size for a breeding pen?

Hey everyone I have a 10 x 10 pen that I can split and make 2 pens that are 5 x 10. Would pens that size be good? Each one would only hold 1 male and 3 females. Just use them as breeding pens.

Thanks

a 10x10 is good enough for you to put your best rooster and all 7 hens in with.

you could try as steve says from the other post:

I would NOT split that pen even if you decide to split the roosters to the hens!!

Hold on here. What breeds of pheasant are we talking about here? For goldens and amherst fine, but for silvers, reeves and ringnecks you will need more room for 4 or 5 birds. These breeds are a little on the aggressive side and during breeding season the males will definetly damage your hens. They need room to get away from the male when they feel it neccesary to.

I breed my red goldens in 5x10 with no problem. One cock and 3-4 hens. My Silvers (1-1) are in a 6 x 12 and Amherst (agin1-1) in another 5 x 10. I would not recommend more than a pair of the larger pheasants in these size pens. Kerry
