You didn't say anything about how many you want to keep, what breed/type, how big you plan to make that box, or any other features. More info might help people give you advice.

If you're talking about the smaller Coturnix type quail then something like that would work fine. I kept 6 in a modified wire dog crate in my garage for the winter and in a small backyard pen in the summer. They don't need as much space as chickens and are generally pretty easy to keep.
