Would you eat an egg-bound hen?

I have a brand new layer who seems to be egg bound. I have done everything I can to try to get that egg out and help her but nothing is working. I do plan to cull her - but should we eat her too? Could the fluid in her abdomen make her unhealthy to eat? She is only a leghorn so there wont be much meat anyway. She only ever laid one egg and then became egg bound, poor thing.

Sorry to hear that!

We eat any poultry with physical ailments like this, but not if there's any chance of disease. "If in doubt, throw it out."
