Just got some turkey eggs to hatch for someone. I thought they were speckled... closer look they are dirty. Would you wash them - and if so with what... just water... warm water????? I'm getting ready to put them in the incubator please answer quickly.

Thanks!!!

Tia

I should say the eggs were shipped, so have been setting a day or so.

No, I wouldn't wash any hatching egg. They have a protective coating that guards against bacteria penetrating the egg while it's incubating. If they're way to dirty, wipe them with a dry cloth.

I wouldn't have sent eggs this dirty... I honestly thought they were speckled, not being familiar with Turkey eggs. I put them in the incubator, so hope for the best. The dirt was pretty dried on there, so really would have had to scrub to get it off. It looks like there are thoughts both ways. : ) Thanks for your help.
