My hen was just picked up and dropped by a hawk and now has a wound right where her wing meets her body (her wingpit?). She’s always super jumpy and cleaning the wound was tough because every time I get the bleeding to stop and go to check on her, she flaps her wings and reopens the wound. The wound was nice and clean but she can reach it with her beak - I tried bandaging it using a large adhesive pad that stuck nicely to her feathers but she got it off in no time. Any thoughts on whether I should immobilize the wing with an ace bandage or something until the wound heals? I’m sure she will love it. But mostly I worry she will get it off and get tangled in it. Any advice appreciated, thanks!

Hmmm, that is a tough situation. Are you keeping her in some sort of separate pen? I would say it would probably be better to try and cover the wound and put antibiotic ointment on it. If you can wrap the ace bandage or vet wrap may even work better under her wing on the wound and around her chest (sort of like the images below but underneath the wings) I think that would work. How bad is the wound?
