Hi everyone! Two days ago one of my silver laced wynadottes was attacked by a hawk. Luckily, my husband heard them making noise and scared the hawk off. My girl, who is over a year old, was in shock for most of the night. We are currently keeping her in a large dog crate until her wounds heal.

I immediately cleaned her wounds and have been spraying them with vetricyn twice each day. She seems to be in good spirits - by that I mean making sounds, hoping up and down off the roosting bar a couple times a day. She is only eating and drinking small amounts though. And although she's only the pooping small amounts, they are solid and typical looking except her urates are very yellow!

I guess I have two questions - (1) any tips on how to help these wounds heal? (2) would you think the yellow urates are related to her reluctant eating/drinking? I put the water right to her beak but she's only taking tiny bits. Tonight I'm giving pieces of watermelon, but again - she's only taking tiny bites.

This is my first experience with an attack and I'm the first to admit that I'm not a pro. Just want to help my girl heal! Attached are a couple pictures of her wounds today - two days after attack.

Thank you for your help!

Something else I noticed after comparing to my other SLW - below her chest is a long blue line that goes to her vent. The others just have regular flesh coloring in that area. Any ideas? My initial thoughts are bruising. Pictures attached.
