Over my time here on BYC I have read a lot of injury posts. There are a lot of excellent responses. The products recommended are widely ranged and vary. I'd like to open a discussion as to why you use/recommend a certain product.
1- what product do you use?
2- what is the availability/cost?
3- reason for choosing that over other products.
4- any personal experience you'd like to share

For me, I have been using Blukote for years on my dogs. Fortunately I have not had any injured chickens yet.
1 Blu-kote
2 $5-7 (US)
3 at the time when I started using it was recommended by my vet
4 I have used it on various cuts and scrapes on dogs. I have also used with limited success on skin infection.

I have used BluKote on scrapes, but not on deep wounds. It costs about $7.

Nustock Cream with sulfur and pine oil is good for fungal infections, scrapes, feather picking, leg mites, and vent gleet, although I haven’t seen that yet. I would not use it on deep cuts. Runs about $12-14 online and in some feed stores.

Vetericyn Wound Spray is very good to use on any wounds. Can cost $17–$25 in some stores.

Plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment is good for deep or shallow wounds. $1 for generic at doolar stores.

Betadine about $12, Hibiclens (chlorhexidene) about $5, are both good to use with water to clean serious wounds.

I have used hydrogen peroxide for the initial cleaning out of an abscessed bite wound on dogs and cats, then stop and use other products later. It won’t cause damage using only once, and it bubbles out the pus and dissolves crust to thoroughly clean it out.

I have been fortunate, not to have needed most of those, but keep them in my first aid kit.

I have most of the others in my trauma bag. Which if needed I can use for the animals. Nustock is one I haven't heard of yet. Going to do some looking into. It never hurts to have choices.
