I discovered a large sore on one of my hens tonight that appears to be at least a week old. She is one who actively avoids human interaction so I didn’t notice this when it was fresh. I have separated her from the other birds and sprayed the wound with vetracyn but I’m not sure what else to do. I have gotten differing opinions on whether I should leave it alone and just watch her or if I should remove the scab and try to clean underneath it. She is up and moving and doesn’t seem bothered by it so I just don’t know.

Personally, I would clean it. Especially if the area is swollen. If you do, just be sure to get all the gunk inside!
