Wow, my CX are really struggling in the heat today

It is 77 degrees today. Luckily there is some cloud cover and a small cool breeze blowing, but my CX are sprawled out and panting. I see many of them drinking, but worry that some of them are just hanging out in the coop, not going out into the run to drink. I have the run covered with a tarp, so it is shady as well. Should I put another water container in the coop for the lazies? Why do CX struggle so much in the heat? The rest of the week should be cooler and let up a little, thank goodness. The bigger these birds get the more I worry. They will be 6 weeks tomorrow.

well...I always keep a waterer in my coop housing anyhow, so I would do that for those who won't come out. You only have to keep them healthy for another two weeks or so don't you? I'm sure the heat (because 77 doesn't phase my egg layers) really hits hard on those heavier birds thick little bodies...
