Ok, so I feel like a terrible Mommy but......We finally got our kids into their coop (they are just under 6 months). I know, I know...a lot later than they needed to be, but they are there now with lots of room. Anyway.....I've always just kind of glanced at the food and water while they were in their temp. home to know when they needed more (usually only twice a week unless they kick shavings into the water). So I hadn't really be looking into corners and things.......Tonight when we went to move them into their coop....We found 4 eggs!!!!

I have no idea if all 3 girls are laying, or if only 1 or even 2 are! They all look the same shade of olive (they are 5 EEs, 2 roos and 3 hens) and about the same size....Medium I guess. It's very exciting (or egg-citing!)

My almost husband took them home with him, but I hope they (or she) will lay again before Wednesday, my last day of school for a week and a half since I get married Saturday (will the stress of being moved into a new home delay the laying?)...I'd like to take one to school for the kids to see that eggs come in more colors than just white. I teach 6th grade in a pretty country area, but only a few kids have chickens and look at me like I'm crazy when I've told them that I have them and they will possibly lay blue or green eggs when they start to lay. Yay, for having to tell the pet sitter to collect eggs

Some chickens will stop laying for a short time when moved, others just go with the flow and keep right on laying. Twice I have taken in chickens from other people and bothe times the chicken in question laid an egg the first whole day I had them.
