Hi all, a friend has a chicken that was born this past spring and from day one she had a weird neck that was twisted. She’s now around 16 weeks and is still showing the same issue. She doesn’t really go out with the rest of the flock and just stays in the coop. Wondering if this is wry neck, as I am suspecting. If so, is there any way of treating it as an adult? (pics attached- I couldn’t get great ones but hopefully these help at least a little)

also, to add on- I did feel her neck and the length seems normal, however she only keeps it to one side and even upside down at some points

Poor thing! Because she's had it since day one its possible its permanent and there's nothing you can do about it, but I could be wrong on that.
I would definitely treat for wry neck first though. Get some Vitamin E 400IU and B-Complex tablets, and give one of each everyday. It'd be good to give her some egg too, it has selenium which helps Vitamin E absorb more.
Can she eat and drink fine? How is her weight?

Im not sure about her eating and drinking since she’s not mine, but I don’t think it’s too bad since her owners didn’t mention anything about it. Her weight also didn’t seem too noticeable to me, I don’t think she is severely underweight.

That’s good, at least it seems like she’s eating and drinking and doing well with it.

yeah it seems like the only issue they’re having with her is that she doesn’t leave the coop so will sometimes fall prey to their dog’s antics, which had recently caused injuries, but otherwise she seems fine and has survived this long with it.

Well I hope she gets better and shows improvement!

Can you get some more full body pictures? Does she have any spinal deformities or a hump back? I would try the B complex and vitamin E as well for a few weeks to help with wry neck.
