My 4month old copper maran has wry neck. I have been giving her the regimen I found in backyard chickens. .02 predisone, 400mg vitamin E, .02 selenium, in addition to electrolite water 2 times a day. I have b complex mixed in her drinking water along with amino acids. I have been doing this regimen for 7 days, her neck is improving, but she wont eat. I have to force mixture of growth feed in her mouth moistened with water and amino liquid. I am at my wits end. I want to save her,but she is getting weaker and weaker. Any suggestions? I go out every hr and dip her head in water to make her drink. so worried.

Feeding a chicken with wry neck is one of the biggest problems. It also probably depends on what the underlying cause of the wry neck, such as injury, vitamin deficiency, or diseases such as Mareks, lymphoid leukosis, and others. Tube feeding might also be considered. Here are some links that you may have already seen or not:

I aapreciate your response, if I cant get food down her today, she will not survive the night. after 9 days of treatment, and her neck upright, I was so hopeful

Have you tried NutriDrench from TSC? That can help with any vitamin deficiencies and might give the chick the boost she needs to start eating on her own. What about scrambled eggs? You're right that you have to force her to eat. Thoroughly wet some chick crumbles and try to get that into her, or some scrambled eggs if that's easier.

And here's another good post on wry neck:

It recommends adding molasses to the diet, if you have that.

Good luck. We're thinking of you.
