WTB:Silver Sussex hatching eggs

You'd have to be willing to part with your arm, leg, and probably your first born child! LOL I'm barely saving up for the $1000 to get the pair. Pfffft!!!

Greenfire farms is the only one that I know that has them. Yep, $1000 big ones for the pair, but that does include shipping I believe. I don't think he sells the hatching eggs. He might sell the day old chicks. I haven't noticed any on his website for sell though.

Yup, I'm currently savin' up for them Silver, Coronation and Light Sussexes. We were already planning on Lights, because I love the columbian color and I really lik ethe Coronation (did not know they were worth that much) and figured I might as well JUMP right in to get the Silvers LOL

I've got a herd o' Sussexes, might as well get the big ones!

I think my issue will be stopping at $800... $600-$700 would be ideal for me.
I plan on crossing the genetic bloodline like Greenfire Farms to produce less inbred birds, so it may take me a few years!

Sad reality is that in 10 years or less members will be asking the best age to harvest their extra exotic Sussex roos in the meat bird threads.

Well, I dont' mean to sound cold, but I already thought about it. They grow super fast, so I do not know why you couldn't eat them. My Coronation Split Sussex Roo weighs about 12-13 lbs now. I'd only have to cook one

They are going to become just like any other breed when more people have them. I would say in the next few years.

(no eggs, I murder too many eggs!)

My marans got super big too... BUT...

roosters = rubber boot!!! LOL

Yeah and I totally believe that's how it works with birds... eggs are easy to hatch out as long as I'm not hatching them! LOL

Well, we did have a friend stop by and he thought they WERE meat birds. Small turkeys is more like it.

I am collecting eggs now, and going to set a few. I'll holler at you when they are about 4 weeks old. I am going to sell the splits and the Coronation Roo's. I will not be able to tell which ones carry the Lavender Gene, so I'll sell a Coronation Roo with some pullets and some of the pullets should carry the Lavender Gene.
