Had to send our brahma off to freezer camp 2 months ago. Got mean.

I'm trying to find a replacement and have a choice of barred rock roo or larger, gold lace wyndotte. Will be picking one or the other up tomorrow. (Our hens are orpington, delaware, NJG, partridge rock and wyndottes.) Just looking for a sire to make general purpose meat birds. Slim pickens on Craig's list unless I wish to drive 50 miles.

Of the two - any suggestions?

Our GLW cockerals dressed out pretty good, for a dual purpose bird. Not sure what type of Wyandotte hens you have. If they are Silvers, breeding them with the Golden Laced rooster will give you sex linked chicks. Yields silver cockerals and golden pullets. Might come in handy later, when you want to add some layers to your flock.

Thanks for the quick reply. Didn't know that about the sex link. We have blue wyndottes - one is actually a splash. Would that yield offspring that would indicate? Sure would be handy.

I don't know about your colors and sex link. It was an accident for me. Here's the results:
