I have heard of this breed being broody frequently. Can anyone out there that has some tell me if this is true? Are almost every single one of them this way or is it just one or two that happen to do so? Thank you for your help.

Can't tell you about all of them, but I have a hen that hasn't layed an egg in 2 years, who went broody, sitting on an adopted egg right now in my living room.

Sadly have a 10 month old SLW pullet that I would like to hatch every egg from just went broody big time. Sitting tight as can be. I gave her a few eggs today thought I would just work with her instead of fighting to get her broken up.

Sure wish she was laying. I am thinking about sneaking a few chicks under her from this weekend's hatch and seeing if she will take them and break up quicker.

How much success have most of you had with them taking chicks

You can break her up by putting her in a wire cage off the ground. If they have air moving under them, it breaks the cycle in a few days. Mine lives in a rubermaid tote right now, since she almost died from the cold in dec. She is a house chicken until spring, so living in a small area with a solid bottom under her, is what caused her to go broody. So i gave her an egg from one of our silkies to hatch.
