If you cross a welsummer and buff orpington will the chick still have a dark breast if it a male? Someone gave my husband an 11 week old chick. He had a welsummer roo and welsummer and orpinton hens. He was not sure which was the mother. He told my husband it was a cockrel, but it is very pullet looking to me. At what age would the hackle and saddle feathers start showing in this breed? Thanks for the help. I don't have a picture to post right now, but was just wondering in general.
