My Australorp, Betty, makes this crazy sound that can only be described as yawling. She makes it all day everyday. She’s the only one who does it. Does anyone know what it means?

Yes. She was the first to lay. I have 4 out of five giving me eggs now. I have a video of the noise but can’t seem to post it

Some of my birds put up quite a squawk. I have to tell . Please be quiet and lay your egg.
Ha! That’s cute 😁

Well, I actually don’t mind the egg-laying song. It’s pretty sweet 😊. And usually only while she’s laying. The squawking is different. And incessant. She sounds like she’s got her leg in a trap. I feel like there is some urgent situation that needs attention. And she’s been this way since She was about 12 weeks old. And she’s super healthy and beautiful and strong so I don’t think there is any pain. And she’s also extremely safe from potential predators (I made a taj ma-coop). I’ve got nothing that explains the behavior. But then again, this is my first flock. Maybe it’s normal.

One of my BAs makes a lot of racket in the morning, kind of a loud moaning groan. Another person posted a video of their BA making that noise and someone who has been here a long time (aart? maybe?) said that the noise is normal.

I think my girl is just greeting the day. Maybe your chicken has a lot to say all day long. :idunno
