I seriously thought this hatch was lost, I have had constant swings in temp, as well as oopsies like leaving the lid ajar slightly on the bator for a day

I have been sooo lucky, I count my blessings that any of these guys have survived this far- I only lost 2/12 from the time I set these, to today. It looks as if one of these might not pip (the little green egg) but all the others are pipping/zipping as I type. I even got a pullet egg to hatch (the little black chick).
PS this is my homemade hatcher, they were incubated in a LG with an auto turner and forced fan. Temps have been from 98-103

and humidity from 60-70%

Thanks for letting me share my excitement

congrats! We're hatching today too, and we also were a lil worried about whether or not things would hatch. Isn't it great?? You have an egg...then suddenly it's a bird. I'm so amused by the simple things today...

So exciting! Congrtats! Doing the chick dance for you

Thanks everyone!! The little cuties are almost 2 weeks old now! I found new homes for all of them except two- I kept the cuckoo maran/EE mixed chicks. They both hatched out of FIRST EGGS from my friends' EE pullets. Proves you CAN get pregnant on the first time

Anyway, here's the little fuzzies after they had all hatched.

Here's a couple things I noticed with this first run. They started hatching on day 18- which is early and that tells me my temps may have been too high. Also, they all had umbilicus still attached and the inside of the shells were quite bloody. So, obviously it wasnt perfect, but they all made it and that's what counts.
