Yeah! Everyone was on the roost tonight!

The babies are now 8 weeks old. 5 lavender orpingtons and 3 silkies. Caught them sitting up on the roost with the bigs. I'll try to get a shot of them tomorrow night. Tonight it was pouring so hard I was afraid to take out my phone. Such a great day for the babies.

Of my 18 3-week old chicks, I have seen 4 of them on the roost at one time, so I have been pleasantly surprised they started sooner than I thought they would. Ofcourse the roosting stick is only about 4 inches off the ground of the coop, but their natural instincts are amazing.

I didn't get to check out sleeping arrangements last night - we still have alot of deep water puddles after the downpouring for two days and didn't want to risk falling into one in the cold & dark. So tonight I'll sneak out there and see where everyone is and who is sleeping with whom.
