I have a year-old hen that has been laying for about 7 months. A couple of weeks ago, she laid fairy eggs for 3 days in a row. Then she laid a soft-shell egg. Nothing at all since then. She doesn't seem ill and she's eating and drinking fine. Any ideas?

Might be a calcium deficiency. You could try saving your egg shells and combining them with your feed. That being said, make sure you thoroughly bake the shells. about 350 degrees for 10-20 minutes. This will help the calcium carbonate in the egg shells reduce down into a more dietary ready state.

Do you have oyster shells in your coop?
No, but I can get some. The other hens are laying fine and haven't had any fairy or soft-shell eggs (I know that because she is the only one who lays blue eggs).

I'll try that--thank you!
