yellow crusty stuff on ducks bill

Clyde has yellow crusty stuff on his bill he not sick but I just want to make sure it nothing to worry about and what it is if anyone can help me plz

Maybe @Miss Lydia or @Isaac 0 can chime in with a better answer, but we see similar things here with our ducks. It was explained to us as sort of like shedding. Having said that, there are infections that can be treated with antibiotics, but I'll let others with more experience chime in. Here is a picture where it is not as bad as it can be, but you can see where the bill is "shedding."

That’s normal.

Just skin flaking around the bill, if you take some time to think about what kind of stuff those little bills go through it’d be weird not to see some scuffs and scrapes.

I might add, excessive shedding/flaking might indicate the birds are being kept in poor conditions.

my boys always have that on their beaks during early winter. never my girls, which i find weird. but i’m pretty sure it’s because of how dry it gets because it doesn’t happen in the summer only winter

on your girls to or just drakes? i’ve had drakes a lot longer than i’ve had hens but i’m wondering if it’s just a boy thing?
