I have two chickens that have stopped laying the the past week. I have also noticed yellow/white running poops under there roost. They are free frange birds and the weather here has been extremely hot (average temp for the last month is 98-100 degrees). They appear to be eating and drinking fine, although that is hard to tell because they free range. There are no attemps to spend any time in their nesting boxes. I've picked them up and neither seem to have a distended vent or tummy. I'm worried...any advice?

Could they be hiding eggs? Sounds like they are stressed from heat and drinking lots and lots of water to keep cool. Might take a sample of poo to the vet to get a fecal float to rule out worms or cocci.

We have checked around the yard pretty well, looking for any hidden eggs and have found none. I guess I could try and get a poop sample to the vet. How clean do you think it should be? Being that it's a bit runny I'm bound to pick up other stuff with it.

Since they free range around our yard I'm not really sure how much they are eating. For the most part they really don't eat a lot of their pellets. And when I bring them a plate of treats or knock some extra bird seed to the ground they do eat that. I have noticed that they are doing a little less scatching. But I figure this is because they are just trying to stay cool. I wonder if I should weigh them. I've picked them up and they don't seem noticably lighter. I'm baffled.
