I have one chick with runny poop. I read somewhere on this site that sometimes yogurt would clear that up. Would I need to provide grit with that yogurt? They are currently on chick starter ~ 3 1/2 weeks old.

Thanks, in advance, your your advice.

Use plain yogurt and read the label to make sure it has "Live, Active Cultures". Dannon Naturals is the brand I found at the grocery store. Mix a spoonful of the yogurt in with some chick starter and serve! Don't be surprised if your chickes turn their noses up the first try, mine did. I waited a couple of days and tried again. This is now one of their very favorite treats.
* edited to add- no need for grit with the yogurt/ chick starter mixture.

Also, if you are adding sugar to their water, it can cause the runny poo. I think it is also a sign of stress in little chicks. Make sure the brooder temp is not fluctuating and that they are happy and comfortable. HTH!
