Today my 2 Cayuga Duck Eggs hatched!! Unfortunately one of them has hatched with its yolk sack still exposed and he is a lot smaller than the other one they are both in the brooder but I'm worried about the yolk sack the chick is extremely vocal and seems fine but will he absorb all of this yolk or will it harm him if he doesn't? Please help I'm getting worried.
Posted a picture to see if it helps not very clear though

This is a dangerous condition, but if the yolk-sac stays moist and doesn't break, he should absorb it and strengthen up. Separating him very carefully from the others will keep him safe until then.

Best of luck!

Thanks for your help guys I've kept his bottom half of his body wrapped in a wet flannel ( do you think this is a good way?) it looks as its shrinking it hasn't split or anything it's fully intact just hoping the little guy makes it through the night x

When this happens with mine, I put them in either a little cup or a small, longish tupperware container bottom that is similar to their size. Which one I do depends on the condition of the duckling otherwise. Part of the reason I do this is to keep them from being exposed to whatever else on the bottom of the hatcher, but it's mostly to keep them from thrashing around. Once they start the thrashing, rolling, kicking, etc. they can tear the umbilical cord loose before it's time, and then you can have an even bigger problem on your hands.

Getting really worried now he seems to be getting extremely weak breathing has flown down hardly chirping

I hope he gets strong

Unfortunately the tiny duck died, so sad :(. But do have extremely healthy happy duck and he's doing very well, just feel a bit sad for him being on his own no company

I'm so sorry your little one didn't make it. You did your best to help.
I've heard that putting a cuddly, fluffy toy or a mirror with lone ducklings and chicks helps to make them feel more secure...
