here is where im going to put the small fenced in area, there going to free range so i don't want to fence in THAT much, for 25 bantams would a 14ft x 8ft fence work?

these, we were unsure of what they were at first, but soon learned they are "vent holes" they are under the roof, so rain can't seep in, but it is bigg enough to get a good summer breeze going in the coop

btw- even though the roof is all rusted, it has a layer of wood underneath that keeps water out for you that are wondering, we plan on making the bottom narrow part a wooden door, and the top just glass, that swings out so they have a window, like dutch doors

Very nice! Those vents are big enough for a snake or rat to get through so you might want to staple some hardware cloth over them. I know they'd be hard for them to reach, but you'd be surprised how snakes can climb!

I was going to say the same exact thing---maybe put some chicken wire over the vent holes--we had a weasel get through a significantly smaller hole than that--we actually watched it. It was amazing! Not in a good way though---

The view is beautiful! Good work!

we accually considered that we plan on putting exxess wire around them so the air still gets in, but other things don't, sorry i forgot to mention that

I love it. Looks great. I think that sounds big enough. Especially if they are mostly free ranging. If you have Storeys guide to Raising Chickens look on pgs. 28 and 29 it gives minimum space requirements..

thanks, i love living in the country because i have veiws like this, of course in a few months we'll be up to our "ears" in corn

can my chickies roam in the corn feild or would that be bad, there is an accaual mouse or so but the cats pretty much keep that down, no plows go there or anything so they should be free to roam right?
