He is an agressive breeder, You will have to have him in with several Hens in at least a 4X4 Pen.
About 6 Hens in an 8X8 pen would be even better so he can not over breed one hen.

EMAIL WITH QUESTIONS.

Oh Melanie you are giving me so much ammunition here

"Aggressive Breeder" Can you elaborate on that with details please?

"Over Breed" Oh please, do tell.

I bet he is tasty.

But seriously, you have gorgeous birds.

PC - I might have known you would spot this..!

YES - He is a persistent Breeder. Never had a silkie like that before.
I had him in a small pen with just one hen and that was a mistake.
Lets just say he has a good appetite,

The next day she was missing way to many feathers.

and she was one of my best birds.
I put him in a cage by him self and when I wanted him to breed some of my girls
I picked out about 4 and put them in the out door breeding pen for the day with him it was 8X8 and that situation worked out great every time.
But I personally would not put him in a small pen with just 1/2 hens ever again.
He made some cute babies.

Of course I would spot a post like this.

He looks just like my avatar, just not purple.

Is he a crower? Mine wouldn't shut up.

:-) No I don't think he crows alot.
I hear him seceral times a day let out a crow or 2.
But crowing is not a problem here. we live in a wooded area and they bother no on.
At this time we have 12 Roosters.

Do you still have your purple Roo?

No, we ate him.

We can't have roos. There is no ordinance against them
but I try to stay on good terms with the neighbors. I did
offer him up for free but found no takers.

It was too bad. He was a lap chicken. He'd attack your feet
but as soon as you would pick him up he would just mellow
out and sit on your lap all day long. He was a BAD crower.
He'd crow all day long, even at night. We had two, both dark grays.
