Ok so my chickens were outside today since it's nice out and we are going through the process of letting them stay in their coop instead of brooder. My 3 year old was very excited and opened the coop door. I noticed he did this and told him to shut the door before they got out. My little rooster had his leg in the doorway and the shut on it. He is not putting any weight on it and it did bleed a little. I took him out of the coop and I'm not sure really what to do for him. Help please!!!

Maybe you can splint the leg for him. You would put it in the correct position and fashion a small splint out of vet wrap so his leg can heal properly.do you know if it's broken? Is it swollen? I think splinting might help. There are many examples of splints online if you search. I really hope this helps. Perhaps bring him inside and offer supportive care and splint the leg.hopefully this will help. Best wishes

Thank you :) I kept him away from the others for a night so they wouldn't peck at it since it was bleeding. He is walking on it now and I don't see any swelling. I think he going to be ok! I am still keeping an eye on him. I think he loved the one on one attention!
