I’m trying to ID my chick that I’ve had now for 2 weeks and it also has feathered feet. I would love to know the sex but it might be to soon. Some assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Can you show the feet? The breed is probably Cuckoo Marans, or Barred Cochin, or some kind of Olive Egger.

I think it is male (because of how much white is in the barring pattern), but I would wait a while and see how it develops before I would be certain of that.

X2 if it is a barred chicken if they have a dot of white on there head doesnt it mean its a male. Repost at 6-8 weeks.

That is why I was looking at the amount of white in the feathers, not the dot on the head.

Two copies of the barring gene means more white in the feathers (as compared with one copy of the barring gene), and only a male can ever have two copies of the barring gene.

The white on this one looked to me like "probably male" amount, but not enough for me to be certain.
