I am raising 9 chickens, three red sex links, 3 silver laced wydendotes and 3 plymouth rocks. One has not been growing at the same rate as the others then she started to lay down alot, but would still walk around, eat, drink and poo but now she has a very hard time to stand at all, does not walk but is still eating, drinking and poo. I don't want to lose her, any ideas what might be up??? She does not have lice and was vaccianted at the hatchery. Any help would be appreciated. She is also much smaller then the others now and is not getting in her adult feathers like the rest

Hi,

I have a young SL Polish with the very same problem.

I would recommend first isolating her from the other chickens. I have been putting poultry electrolyte in her water. If you can't find electrolyte search this forum for "home made electrolyte". Finally I have also been giving her a small amount of yogurt in the morning. Make sure to clean the poopy butt. Since mine does not move much the poo can get caked on.

The leg paralysis started on Monday. At this point one of her legs is now working okay. She is still eating drinking and pooping. The other leg is completely paralyzed. I haven't seen any signs of mites, sores, or anything else.

Here is a link to the post I made for my girl.

Hopefully someone will chime in soon with some advice on this.
