Just wondering if anyone could help with the gender of two chicks...also the breed for one of them.

1 week old

4 1/2 weeks

My guess was a little red Cochin? Cockerel?

2nd Chick in question: I know it is a golden sebright...just wondering if everyone else thought it was a cockeral as well.

2 weeks old

5 1/2 weeks old--the one in the middle..Sorry, this is the best picture I have of it right now!

Yes, the first one looks like a red cochin bantam. What type of comb does it have? Looks like a single from the pic, which would be cochin. I think it's a girl at this stage, but watch the comb!

The second one is a cutie! Sebrights are very hard to sex because the males lack the droopy tail and pointy feathers of other roos, so it's nearly impossible to tell at this stage. Maybe one of the sebright people on the sebright thread can help you.

Thanks for the reply! The red chick does have a single comb. I'm HOPING it is a pullet! We have a Cochin rooster already...so not really wanting anymore! I know what the chances are though, with straight run chicks! Odds are against me.
