I've got a 6 month old Maran hen acting sick. She seemed fine yesterday, but is standing hunched in a corner alone and walks very slowly today. She doesn't seem terribly interested in food, though I've seen her peck at the ground a couple times. She's got some crust at her rear end and a clear liquid that looks like egg white on the fluff near her vent. Her vent also seems large and, occasionally, looks prolapsed though I wasn't able to get a picture because it went back before I could get my phone up. I gently probed around (but not in) her vent with a finger and don't feel an egg in the area.

I've had chickens for about six months now so this one is new to me. What do y'all think is going on with her?

I've included pictures of her hunched up and of her fluff.

She may be struggling with expelling an egg. I'd give her 1 300mg tablet Calcium Citrate+D3 now, then once daily for 5 days. See if she lays an egg or material.
Thank you. She's improved markedly the last couple of days and I did see a darker brown egg that I think is hers about the time she started moving better.

Moving better after laying an egg, yes, she was having a hard time expelling it.

It's always a good idea to have Calcium tablets on hand that way if you see the symptoms again, go ahead and give her a tablet right away.

I'm glad she's improved.
