young hen attached by dog

Hi Everyone,
My 9 week old hen was attacked by my small dog this morning. I didn't see what she did to the bird but she obviously grabbed her, because there are several feathers in one place in the backyard. I cannot see any any puncture wounds, but she is acting lethargic. She can walk but pretty much won't. She stays right where I put her, standing up. She keeps closing her eyes halfway. Advice please??

Not much to do right now but keep her in a nice quiet place and let her recover from the stress. I would put some water for her right in easy reach, so she doesn't have to get up to drink.

What kind of small dog are you talking about?

chihuahua/dachshund mix... abt 10 lbs.

Dachsies have a pretty good bite. I would just leave her alone with some water in a quiet place. You can look her over closely later for any punctures, but I'll bet she has plenty of bruising.
