We've had ducks for only 2ish years, it seemed that the males are total jerks when they become of age. Now we have 2 new young unfortunately drake pekins they are huge compared to all the others and they are just starting to mate the heck out of a few of my girls... I absolutely hate it. When will they calm down??

Probably never. Drakes are aholes

:welcome Two drakes competitively gang breeding hens ? It gets worse. Sometimes removing one from the flock improves things. If they are aggressively mating now, it will get worse as day light period increases. Generally they calm down somewhat early summer. There is the potential for injury to smaller duck hens or even drowning if they have a pool/pond.

:lau I just sent a reply to a new member saying that drakes grow up to be jerks. I started 2 years ago with a pair of 1 year old Muscovy, drake and his mate. They hatched 9 ducklings the first summer. Hopefully without offending anyone, the males ended up in my freezer and were delicious. The next year I added another drake and new females so had 2 drakes and 11 females. Drakes got along well and the females sort of divided themselves into 2 groups. Problems started as second year hatch drakes matured. Jerks created chaos with my oldest drake taking the brunt of the abuse. Rehomed young drakes and peace was restored.

The other morning I was just about ready to rehome both our big Rouen/pekin Drakes. Miss Piggy our small little Mallard hen was walking by Big D and he reached out and grabbed her by her neck feathers and spun her around off her feet, I was so .

Luckily for her I had the water hose in my hand refilling their pools and Big D got himself a quick cold shower to cool himself off!

I been talking about separating the Drakes before spring, it's looking like I will be doing that sooner over later now. :barnie

Late summer I watched as one of my young drakes grabbed his sister by the leg as she flew over him, and slammed her to the ground. I think he was jealous, and she was showing off. Whatever, new owner reports he is happy in his new digs with his own female.
