Hey all,

I've got a 5-week old BQ male (c. chinesis) whom I've had to separate from his parents because he was trying to hump his mama. Can't be having that!

He's all by himself in a big cage and will crow constantly throughout the day and night. His cage is situated right next to his parents' so he can still see them, but I think his night crowing is him calling for a lady. Unfortunately he's not handtame like his parents are, so I can't assuage his loneliness with pets and cuddles. Does anyone in the Tampa/St. Pete area have a couple of hens they want to sell or get rid of? Preferably young, less than a year old. I have another boy (>1 year old) who is paired up with an older hen and I don't want him to be left alone when she passes. The two hens can co-exist in the younger male's cage until then.

Any ideas on what I could do to make him stop in the meantime? Their cages are in my room and it's gotten to the point where I have been sleeping in the living room to get a full night's rest because he is so darn loud.

He only thing I can tell ya is Craigslist,Feedstores look for them there. I looked everywhere for Couturnix quail but I found it at a feed store that I pass by through a few times a week lol. That was the last place I thought of :p anyway try craigslist or try we're ever you got the quail you have now

I got in touch with a lady via CG who had chicks which should have hatched by now. Hopefully she'll get back to me when the chicks are old enough to be sexed! Poor roo, I had to put his cage out on the back porch so I could sleep through the night. He seems to be doing well, and likes to crow in the mornings around 7am and a bit in the evenings. He seems to be calming down a bit by now, hopefully I can find him a hen soon! :)
