young roo with big hens?

I have 8 hens and i want baby chicks eventually. i wanted a rooster in the bunch from the beginning but didnt get one. the hatchery did a good job of seperating them for once to my dismay. Here is what i want to do my hens are 6 weeks old this week and my uncle has some heinz 57 chicks hatching next week. He told me i could have the first rooster i like and want. what is the best way to protect this little guy without getting him killed by a already established pecking order group?

got the rooster he is 3 dsays old in a brooder by himself. Is that bad for him to be by himself? but anyway how sould i introduce him. and how often should i.

Yes it might be bad. They don't do well on their own especially when they are small. Please go by and get another to be his buddy and wait until they are all feathered out to put them with the rest. Everyone needs a buddy.

VERY bad to be on their own... He will be a social outcast once he joins others... Get one or two chicks to throw in with him.. IF you dont want to keep the extras, You can usually give them right back to the owner at 6 weeks... they usually dont mind...
