I have a young rooster - about 20 weeks old - and he does not crow. He is the only roo w/ 4 hens all of the approximate same age. Will he crow when he is all "grown up"?

Of course, my husband says not to complain. A quietly cooing rooster is so-o-o-o much better than a loud crowing one, but I want to hear him crow!

What do ya'll think?

My roo was 18 weeks before he crowed, before that he didn't even seem to know he was a rooster vs a hen. They're all different. Has he started mating? That is a sure signal that he is starting to take ownership for his ladies.

My Blue Roo in my avatar was hatched in September. 9 months and he just started attempting to crow... and it ain't pretty. Now, if he can just start fertilizing eggs.

I think he just started crowing because I put in a couple of 14 week old juvie leghorn roos. They crow LOUD and often and will soon be going to freezer camp.

Dougie was about 9 months old when he started to crow. It was comical at first, but he is getting better at it and not sounding like he is strangling.
